Soran Lind is a Norwegian saxophonist based in Vienna.
He has performed as soloist with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, the Staff Band Of The Norwegian Armed Forces, among others. He has also appeared several times on Norwegian TV as well as in Norwegian, British, Danish and Latvian radio.
As a chamber musician, Soran has several times been invited to the largest festivals in Norway, including Oslo Chamber Music Festival, Risør Chamber Music Festival and Oslo Opera Festival. He has performed in Norway, France, Austria, U.S.A, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Latvia and Switzerland.
He has won 1st prize and the audience award at Oslo Rotary’s soloist competition, 1st prize at the EMCY competition «Norwegian Music Competition for Youth, 1st prize at the Oslo Championship for soloists and 1st prize at the Norwegian Championship for ensembles. He has been in the final of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation’s soloist competition “Virtuos”.
Soran has been awarded Scholarships from T. Wilhelmsen Foundation, Sparebanken 1, J. Ellingsens Foundation, Klæstad Foundation and Fegersten Foundation.
As a performer he is noted for his virtuosic playing and warm sound. His broad repertoire spans from baroque composers like H.I.F Biber and J.S. Bach to contemporary composers like L.Berio and K.Stockhausen. In addition to performing the standard repertoire, Soran is very passionate about performing music by the new generation of composers.
Soran is currently studying at Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien.
